Our History

Productive Concepts, Inc. (PCI) was founded in 1999 by Rob Lykins in Union City, Indiana.  Why Union City?  Well, the fact that it's Mr. Lykin's hometown certainly played a major role, but another important factor is that Union City is steeped in automotive and locomotion history.  The first car ever built in Indiana - The Lambert - was built right here in Union City.  The Name itself - Union City - comes from the union of five railroads in town - attesting to the geographical significance of Union City when founded as a rail hub in the mid 1800's.  For decades, the Union City Body Company operated here building auto bodies for the Auburn, Cord, and Dusenberg line of fine automobiles in the early part of the 20th century.

Union City is also home to Workhorse Custom Chassis - manufacturing the lions share of the chassis for the heavy truck market in the US.  Workhorse is one of PCI's valued customers.

PCI is proud to be making history now - in the 21st century - by it's innovative leadership in alternative fuels and hybrid technology vehicle conversions.  We're proud to be part of the solution to America's dependence on foreign oil and environmental challenges.
